Dinghy Dawdle Wilhelm's Bend 15-18 October 2021 (Report by Lissa Selga, with additional assistance from David (K) Jones, Lindsay Dent, Peter Hunter and Vic Breeding) This enjoyable dawdle had over 30 keen registrants and was based on private property near Wilhelm's Bend, upstream of Renmark. Participants travelled from all over the Riverland, Adelaide and other regional centres to attend, setting up camp in tents, campers, caravans and houseboats. On this occasion we had all the comforts that the amenities trailer has to offer. It was a great long weekend of fun both on and off the water. Members and guests enjoyed a range of boating and kayaking trips over 4 days. The high water enabled opportunities to explore backwaters and smaller waterways which are rarely accessible, including the challenging and picturesque Squiggly Creek. Other highlights included exploration of the Bulyong/Kylie Creek loop, Little Hunchee, Big Hunchee, Ral Ral, and Nelbuck Creeks. Participants were able to view parts of the lovely Calperum Station from the water and also enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the famous Woolshed Brewery, with Pete's Pizza in attendance. Many also got their feet wet manhandling dinghys over the Calperum causeway! Multiple kayaking forays were had in small groups or individually. As always, the evenings included the usual campfire banter with much fun and laughter had by all. Thank you to all members of the Committee and participants for making this yet another successful RCBC event. Event Organizers: Lissa Selga, Vic Breeding and Peter Hunter.
