People and Organizations Supporting the RCBC
The following individuals, companies and organizations support the activities of the RCBC through provision of free or discounted services to the Club and/or to individual members. Kulcurna Homestead, approx. 664.5km mark, immediately upstream of Lindsay Cliffs and about 2km downstream of Pollard's Cutting on NSW side of river, 665 Cal Lal Road, Rufus, NSW; road access via Old Wentworth Road from Renmark, or from Wentworth. Sister and brother Belinda and Paul Hansen, descendents of the Higgins family that colonized the area 150 years ago, offer accommodation in the stately 1920's homestead building. By prior arrangement, Paul and Belinda can provide hearty cooked camp oven dinners and breakfasts for groups of various sizes. Otherwise groups typically self-cater using a large range of facilities and spaces. The homestead has 4 twin bedrooms and guests have access to the shared lounge and dining rooms, with many books to read, puzzles and games to play and historical artefacts to peruse. Paul and Belinda can also provide a detailed local history and guidance on places to go and things to do whilst at Kulcurna. Wompinni Station approx. 659km mark, approx. 3km upstream of Higgin's Cutting, NSW side of river; Cal Lal Road, Rufus, NSW, access via Old Wentworth Road from Renmark or from Wentworth via the Rufus River Road, NSW; road access via Old Wentworth Road from Renmark, or from Wentworth. Owner operators Eric Thomas and Kerry Alderson have reactivated the old homestead and grounds of this historic station property. Now offering limited cabin-based accommodation and extensive campsites for tents and caravans, the latter supported by modern communal showers and toilets. Wompinni also offers to cook pizzas for passersby and will provide limited short-term mooring. RCBC recently visited Wompinni as part of our May 2022 Mini-Run from Customs House to Lock 7. Artist-in-Residence Jasmine Rose MA, works in a range of media, including large and small sculpture, painting and drawing. Jasmine will host a tour of her gallery and larger works in the grounds, explaining her inspirations and techniques, including experimenting with local materials.
